Quick Makeup Tip: Healthy Glowing Winter Skin

Hello winter bunnies !

We all tend to pack on a ton of compact or loose powder to set our makeup during the sultry summer months. Even though that might work in summers, its not the best idea for the drier months, especially for those with normal to dry skin.

Powdering your entire face during these parched months can make you look dull and dimensionless taking away the natural dewy glow and life away from your skin. The idea is to apply a small amount in the areas you need to set your makeup and not apply it in places that would make you look dull.

Normal-Dry Skin

Be sure to powder your under eye concealer and other parts of your face where you've tried to conceal any imperfections. Setting concealer always requires powdering.

Use any fluffy tapered blending brush like the MAC 224 to lightly dust off the thinest film of powder to set the concealer. Too much powder on the under eyes will make your fine lines more pronounced and make your under eye concealer really cakey.

Oily Skin

In addition to following the first step mentioned for normal-dry skin, you could use a large Kabuki brush to very lightly deposit a fine film of powder on your entire face or just your oily T-zone.

A great thing to do before starting to powder oily skin would be to blot away the the oils and silicones from the foundation. Use a tissue or a blotting paper. This will make your foundation last much longer without getting oxidized.

Be sure to keep the powder away from your temple, cheek bone, brow bone and the bridge of your nose. These are the high points of your face where the light hits first. These areas have to reflect that light for you to look glowy and alive. Use highlighting/brightening creams or powders in these areas instead of a mattifying one.

Hope this helps you shine through the winter !
xoxo.
